Whats Been Goin' On

Got all my hair chopped off.

Took a picture of my new favorite shoes.
pictured from left to right...
Cameron's feet, my feet, Megan's feet.
I'm in love with these Ssekos.

Made a Thankful Tree
These trees are all the rage right now.
I'm sure they will be showing up soon on Stuff Christians Like.
Jenn made one.
Rachel made one.
I think Kendra was the inspiration.
Sorry to keep pointing this out...
but would ya take a look at those cute shoes.

Wanted to make our Thankful Tree earlier in the month...but...well...

Hmmm...

I didn't.

I think "Better Late Than Never" will be on my tomb stone.

The other day I stumbled upon a girl's blog from New Life. Her name is Jessie.
She painted some trees.
I loved those trees.

Thought about those trees when I closed my eyes that night.
Imagined myself painting them all over our bedroom walls.
Imagined Aaron's eyes opening in the morning.
Wanted him to wake up in a forest of bubble leaf trees.
But I fell asleep.
We woke up in our regular, bubble-free, noncarbonated bedroom instead.

Asked Jessie if I could copy her quirky trees for our Thankful Tree.
She said yes.

Every night, the fam will write what we're thankful for on a leaf of our choice and glue it on our Thankful Tree.

I made our tree out of fabric instead of paper because I wanted to use it again next year and because of Little Britches.

I figured he'd take one look at a paper thankful tree and be thankful that I made him a paper wonderland to destroy (and eat).

Thanksgiving.

Oh Jesus pour Thanksgiving into our souls. Remind us of your goodness. Let us see babies feet, hear a violin play, taste Butternut squash, smell homemade bread, touch our husband's face and be reminded

of your great

rich

wild

overflowing

above and crazy beyond

out of control

love

for us.

Remind us that our worst days...our biggest no good, very bad days don't begin to compare to the suffering and pain going on around the world.

Heaven awaits and until we get there grace abounds.

Thanksgiving

1 Thessalonians 5:18
Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

I LOVE your hair! Super duper cute. Who did you end up getting to cut it....you must have really trusted her...because that was drastic. And it turned out awesome!

I might just have to jump on the tree bandwagon too...yours is presh!

I used my girl, Melissa but she's moving and that's the last time she could cut my hair.

Sad day.

I got lots of great suggestions though. Hopefully I'll find someone that I trust again! Stress!!

I love your hair!! Super cute!

I also love that tree! Very crafty of you. I'd love to know how you made that! I especially love that it is fabric not paper since we have a paper eater in our family as well. Will definitely be jumping on the thankful tree bandwagon next Thanksgiving.

I need to get some Ssekos and get people here to start wearing them!

Yes Erin! You need some of these shoes on your tiny cute feet.

The tree was easy. I did it during ONE of Hudson's naps. Gotta love those projects, huh!

I just bought burlap...cream color, dark brown and green.

I cut out the tree trunk and grass...then hot glued them on to the cream color fabric.

Then I cut out the leaves from cardstock. I hot glued all the tiny circles on. Those will stay forever. The bigger pieces are the ones we'll write on every night.

I had to take the picture of the tree on the table so all the non-glued pieces would stay put.

When we hung the tree up, the only thing on the canvas was the tree trunk, grass and tiny circles. The rest of the leaves went into a zip lock bag for us to use every night to write on.

I experimented today. If I put a small dot of elmer's glue on the leaves we're sticking on, when the glue dries you can pull the leaves right off and it doesn't bother the burlap fabric underneath.

I like that it's cloth cause Hudson can't eat it, but the paper parts (leaves) are too high up for him to reach.

I put a rod on the back so it lays flat on the door.

Then we hung it on the laundry room door (that you can see from our dining room table).

I think that's it!

After Thanksgiving I plan to pick the leaves off that we stuck on with the Elmer's glue and then roll this baby up and pull it out next year.

Unrelated:
"Hey Heather,

I saw on your blog recently that Aaron really liked Andrew Peterson as an author. A friend of mine HIGHLY recommended his Christmas CD, as not so much a regular Christmas CD (hymns and carols) but rather a musical telling of the coming of Christ. Anyway, I have not listened to it (just found out this morning) but while looking for it, found this:
https://store.rabbitroom.com/music/artist/Andrew%20Peterson
and thought maybe you could find something for Aaron there. I think they have short previews of each song. Anyway, enjoy. "

Sent you that message on facebook. Then I remembered, I don't think you are using facebook anymore.

Yes Andy...

Behold the Lamb is pretty much the only CD that gets any play time around here during Christmas. I think Aaron listens to it year round.

If you've never heard it, it's WELL worth the buy! It will be your new favorite CD.

I've been off the computer for awhile, so I'm a little late in posting. I love your tree! It is so cute. I just might have to make a fabric one for next year. The paper sacks aren't so cute. And your inspiration trees are very inspiring!

Great haircut.
