The Full Story - From Aaron

I know that there are some of you who only visit the blog for pictures or funny stories about my kids.
Heck, sometimes that's why I read this blog as well.
I rarely write at Sit A Spell.  Like you, I enjoy reading what my wife writes and have always appreciated how she shares our lives with so many.  I consider myself blessed to have had my life and the lives of our children chronicled in this place.

As we begin this move to Haiti, I thought it would be nice if I borrowed Heather's blog to tell the full story of how God totally changed the direction our family was heading.

The full story is long.  So I wrote a short version as well ... Cliff Notes if you will.

Short version, for all of you Headline News lovers:

It has been 4 months since God used His Word to challenge our family through the Radical series.
What started as an evaluation of how we use our time, our home, and our money has evolved into a decision to spend at least the next year of our lives in Haiti.
It has been a long and painful refining that has taken place since we first began listening to the Radical series from the Church at Brookhills.
I (Aaron) have taken a position at Quisqueya Christian School in Port Au Prince.
I will be the high school bible teacher, teaching 5 classes a day.
Although the school does pay a stipend, we will still need to raise support for our family while we are in Haiti.
We're praying that God would lead you to help support us with your prayers and finances.

The long version:

Our family is moving to Haiti.
This will be the most complete telling of this story to date, so I decided to break it into “chapters” so that it will be easier to follow.  (And because no one should have to scroll down that much.)

1.  Radical Reevaluation
2.  Haiti in our Faces
3.  A Good Trip
4.  Seeing Ourselves in Haiti
5.  The Road Ahead

Note: Each of these pages are hosted on the new website, Mosaic Village.  You'll get the story about Mosaic Village in chapter 4.  Please click around on the Mosaic site and get a better idea of what we're hoping to see God do in Haiti.

Heather will continue to do that thing she does here on this blog.  Mosaic Village will be a great place to keep up with what we're doing in Haiti as well.  It would greatly bless us if you subscribe to the new site and help us spread the word about what God is doing in our lives, and how we truly believe He wants to use people here in America to be a part of what God is doing in Haiti.

We are praying about supporting you. You are as good a writer as Heather, Aaron! One comment - I couldn't find chapters on Mosaic. Excellent website, but I couldn't navigate around it. I read the story from your list of chapters on Sit a Spell, and forwarded it to Paul (who is traveling again) to read as well. Good luck! We've already been praying and will continue. You guys are AWESOME!

We're so glad you reminded us about the story being easily accessible at Mosaic Village. It was something Aaron had meant to do, but forgot. He went in and fixed it.

Thanks so much for being a part of this journey with us! You are always a huge encouragement to our family!

Hey Guys, excited to see the site up and going. Looks great! We miss you and can't wait to sit down with you when we get back from San Diego and brainstorm about all that the Lord is going to do! Talk to you soon!

Ahhh, finally. Answers. It was kinda driving me nuts, the not knowing the details and all.

I LOVE the name of the website! Thanks Aaron for the lo-down. I think y'all have a great idea to make that connection. It feels so far removed from where we sit.

Can't wait for Levi to read everything. Levi is doing some pro bono design/drafting for an orphanage/school over there. He is so excited to be involved.

Praying for you.

small world....
so the Ben and Katie in Haiti- Brian was best friends for YEARS with Katie's little brother Matt. He knows their family very well.

We are so excited about all of this. We can't wait to get involved in Haiti. In addition to financial support, is there anything else we can do? like do you plan on bringing clothes or anything like that over for the Haitians?

Also Heather- can you email me an address in Brenham that I can send you something? WE want to send you Abigail's birth announcement!

How neat, Whitney that you knew Katie (in a round about way)!

Right now, we're not planning to take anything with us to Haiti other than our stuff. Getting four kids and our junk through the airport seems daunting enough for this trip! But...once we are there we are excited about connecting people here with the needs in Haiti.

I can't believe I have still not gotten to see Abigail. Crazy!

Aaron and Heather,
First of all - love you guys! I never really imagined that 12 years ago as you loved on Michael that you would be in this place (I guess you didn't either)- but I think it's REALLY AWESOME COOL and I loved reading the whole story and most of all, GOD ROCKS! I love how He has put the little pieces of the mosaic together already and that title is so fitting for how it all works. Out of millions of pieces in God's big picture, we are only 3 or 4, and we just can't ever understand what the masterpiece will look like. (His ways are higher than our ways)but golly gee whiz - I like the little piece that I see! :)
Sidenote: We started our Haitian journey with a sponsor child from Baptist Haiti Mission. I visited our child at the chapel where you will be working. His name is/was Herby Paul. He has long graduated now, but still cool that I know exactly where you will be. Is Edna Peterson still there??
