Churches Helping Churches hosted a remembrance rally in front of The Palace this morning.
"CHC was founded by Pastor James MacDonald of Harvest Bible Chapel and Pastor Mark Driscoll of Mars Hill Church following the 7.0-magnitude earthquake that hit Port-au-Prince, Haiti on January 12, after the two went to the devastated capital within the week of the event." -- from the CHC website
Aaron went to the rally. I stayed home with the kids and got to sit on my couch, look out the window, and watch people across the street worship and praise God for hours and hours. (pics below)
We spent the evening at Heartline's guest house worshiping, praying, and feasting. When we got home, Soso was in our kitchen washing the dishes. I got onto her. She's not supposed to work today. It's a holiday. She said she wanted to come. "So what did you do today?" I asked her. "I went to church, and I prayed for Haiti." Then she squeezed my arm and told me that she prayed for me and my family a lot today. My word. That lady. She is Haiti. With all she's been through this year she spent a good portion of her day today praying for us. She makes me all weepy and weird.

Haitians have that affect on me too! :) So glad you're here. I'll be praying for your family too. Loved meeting those sweet boys today!! :)
I've never posted...always wanted to but never did. I stumbled upon your blog about four months ago and I'm not even sure how. I live in the Dominican Republic so we're practically neighbors! I work for an organization called G.O. Ministries, Inc. (www.go-ministries.org) I just wanted to say thank you for posting this. So many of us that live in the DR wanted to be a part of the celebrations there yesterday but couldn't.
And thank you for being so transparent about the reality of living in a third world country. You make me laugh at least once every post and I always say, "Oh my goodness, someone else thinks like me!"
May God bless you and your family for your service in Haiti.
so utterly beautiful...
