While Little Mister was at home recovering from his sickness, and I was at home recovering from how freaked out the youngest Hendrick made his mother, Aaron took the older boys to a waterfall.
A man trip. Oh how my sons love these. I try not to take it personal.
I love pictures that capture a soul. Don't you? This is my son. When I think of Hayden I will always remember him in complete enjoyment of nature. Total rapture. He has so few inhibitions. Nothing hems him in.
He knows how to live. Truly live. His entire family sits back and takes lessons.
Can you hear him yelling? I forgot to mention that he lives out loud. In stereo. Surround sound.
He knows how to 100% enjoy something. He won't let anyone ruin it for him. No way.
See this little one? He's my baby. Yes. I have two babies.
Sometimes I have four. Do they ever quit being your baby?
This baby's Daddy let him climb up really high.
Look at that wittle face. It's way too high up in the air. I don't like it one bit.
If I had been there my baby would have stayed on the ground where he belongs.
He would have asked to go with the big boys but I would have said, "Absolutely not. You will plummet to your death." Then I would have told him how much I love him and want to keep him alive so I can hug and kiss him.
Maybe that's why my sons cheer when they realize they are heading out on a man trip.
Look at them. They feel like men. Can't you see it?
Spring Break. This has been a magical week. So special. A time to stop and truly enjoy this country and our children. A time to rest. To humbly admit that we're human. We need time to stop. Catch our breath. Be still. Drink in creation. Marvel at the gifts we have been given. Hug longer. Laugh harder. Cuddle on the couch. Savor slow mornings. What beautiful memories we have made this week. Refreshing. It has been unbelievably refreshing.

Beautiful Heather. I love to see little boys enjoying the great big world that God has created, and I love to see a father that thinks it is important for his little boys to do that! Glad you all had a refreshing week!
So awesome! Love the pictures of the boys relishing life. And yes, my girls like it when they go on adventures with Dad, too, for the same reasons. They get to do things that Mom would freak out about.
What a great week you had! Is it over now or do they get two weeks off?
No. They went back to school today. Boo!
One more day of pics tomorrow. Beach! It was beautiful.
Heather
Hee Hee! I think this post holds the key to why you don't get invited on man trips. =) I'm with you... don't let our babies do anything remotely risky. Oh, but those baby boys turn into little men so quickly! I picked up my littlest baby the other day. 21 months old. So little we still count his age in months. So I picked him up and squeezed him and said, "Are you Mama's baby?" not really expecting a response from him. Well, he looked right at me and said, "No!" =)
All three boys have the same smile! Wonderful! Love the pics!
OH how fun! Man dates. My brother loves those.
Kudoes to the camera man on these shots. Love them! And oh how the little men love their mama, but also love when she's not there to "hold them back" as my boys say.
Sounds like it was an awesome week. Loved watching it all play out. So glad Hudson is better.
Love you all Dad/G-Pa
Well that's certainly a memory they will NEVER forget. :-) Looks absolutely amazing!
I'm with you. Get that baby DOWN!!!
Love it all and totally agree.......... when the boys (ie, Mike's idea) take off on a man trip. They beg me to pack sandwiches and stay home. I freak out.......and Isaac says, "moms are like that cause they love you"
at least he understands it. My last words are always, Be careful!
I wondered on your blog by accident a few months maybe a year ago can't really remember but I have gotten addicted to reading about you and your family and moving away from your home. I enjoy everything you put on here but most of all the last post about the waterfall and how you talk about your boys just touches me so much. I have tears in my eyes just reading what you wrote. You have a beautiful family and thanks for sharing.
So funny that you shared about Ashton! When I saw the pictures, before your story, I looked at that sweet boy and wondered if he would have been doing that climb if you had been with Aaron and the men children. I know that I wouldn't have let my Ashton age child do that, but Paul would have. And you're right - they DO love it! If they didn't have dads, they probably wouldn't grow up as well adjusted.
I don't know how single moms do it. Praise the Lord for your wonderful restorative time and the AWESOME hikes! Praise the Lord for His sovereign protection over your "other baby"! Praise the Lord for His goodness. So glad you got to have some relaxation in the midst of the craziness.
We need to get that boy some of <a href="http://www.rei.com/product/730660>these</a>!!
Ashton's made me proud again.
