Sew and Sew

Spent today at the sewing center....we're playing around with some fun new ideas.

I don't talk about it nearly enough, but at Heartline we don't just do prenatals, child development classes, deliver babies, and house teen moms.  Heartline also runs a sewing school, teaching women to sew purses and bags ....empowering them with the skills they need to provide for their families.  We then sell their bags on the internet under the name, Haitian Creations.

It was nice to spend time with these smart, Haitian women.

I love the mangoes in this picture.  Right next to the giant stack of bags waiting to go to the U.S.  Quirky Haiti.  You simply must smile.

Can't wait to show you some of the new things our ladies are busy working on.

I love my Haitian Creations purse! My purse was made by Myrielle.. if you think of it tell her I use it every day! It is the Sheila-style and I love the little pockets inside. I use it to carry my crochet with me.

I've been thinking about hosting a purse party for months now but I've been hesitant to send the money up front. Seeing you post makes me feel like God is saying for me to go ahead and have this party. While putting the money up front makes me nervous I need to trust that this is a good organization and it will be helping lots of wonderful women feed their families. I'd love to show a video or give out information about the woman making the purses at my party, do you know if this is possible?

You don't have to give any money upfront. Only your credit card number. When I lived in the States and had purse parties, it was so easy. I was even a stinker about getting my unsold bags back in the mail on time and never once did my credit card get charged. They are so flexible.

When you get your purses, you'll get a DVD to show at your party.

Hope you have one! If so, let me know how it turns out!

I just want you to know that this post inspired me to purchase 2 bags - one for me, and one for a dear friend who has supported us as we are adopting a little girl from Haiti.

As I look at the bag - and see the care that has gone into it - it absolutely warms my heart. Best money ever spent.

Once our dossier is complete and life settles down (that's a fun thought) I'll host a purse party. Purses with a purpose. I'll never buy another one at Target. :-)

Please hug the ladies for me and tell them they do an amazing job.
