It's an indisputable fact. Haitians are innovative.
They can make just about anything out of just about anything.
A plastic oil bottle is transformed into a truck.
You know you live in Haiti when kids make toys out of trash.
In true Haitian form, Ashton made his own jump rope today.
He was oh so proud. Dead leaves. Two sticks.
Hours of entertainment.
Who needs a Target anyway? (I do.)
Speaking of my third born. Take a look at that face. He got clothes-lined by a semi-invisible rope on the playground this week. Sad. I want him to quit being the joker on Batman and go back to being my baby. Ashton is hoping for a scar. Cause he thinks scars are cool. I on the other hand am rubbing all sorts of ointments on his face around the clock. Over my dead body is that cute face scarring. If I have to rub ointment and salves and whale blubber and magic potions on his face every hour on the hour....well. I think you get the point.

You know you live in Haiti when your friend gets this text from you:
"There's a kid named Fahed (fah-head) playing at our house right now. I don't know if I'm mature enough to live in this country."

"Mom. No one hated your cupcakes at the party today."
Oh. Wait. Sorry. That's not how you know you live in Haiti.
That's how you know you live in a house with all males. I've learned to take those kinds of comments as compliments. Sheesh.
No one hated my cupcakes today. Oh good. Good. Glad I made them.

Ashton, I think your jumprope is very cool. And I'm with you mom - scars may be cool, but your face is plenty cool without one.
Poppi says, "Chicks dig scars."
Oh you crack me up!

I love reading about what you are all up to.
Love the creativity of the kids. They will create fun with whatever they find and that shows great imagination and skill.
Love your writings - the good, the funny and the possible scars! LOL.
Hugs, prayers and have a great day.

I'm glad you addressed the scar on Ashton's sweet little face. When I saw it in the first pic this aunt gasped out loud!
Sweet boy, don't you be coming home all grown up and dangerous you hear me!
Love the ingenuity of Haiti....forget selling rocks this summer! Those boys are going to be selling contraptions and gadgets that are legit.
